Stratford upon Avon Schools & Education
Unsurprisingly, Stratford is home to several institutions set up for the study of Shakespeare. The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust holds books and documents related to the playwright, and the Shakespeare Institute.
William Shakespeare is believed to have studied at King Edward VI Boys School, which is still operational today, as a mainstream, state-funded senior school! From September 2013 up to 25% of the year 12 intake can be girls and the school has been rated as “outstanding” by Ofsted.
Alternatively, there is also an all-girls grammar school; Stratford-upon-Avon High School, rated “good” following its last inspection as was Alcester Academy and Stratford Upon Avon School, a mainstream, co-ed state-funded senior school.
Stratford-upon-Avon College gives students the chance to access Further and Higher Education. It offers a diverse choice of hundreds of courses covering academic studies through to performing arts and BTEC Public Services and even midwifery.
Things to do in Stratford upon Avon
Stratford hosts many famous events, including Shakespeare’s birthday celebrations, but there is all manner of other family events being staged throughout the year too.
If you are shopping or eating out, the centre of town and its surrounding streets has a good assortment of high-end eateries, restaurants, pubs, and cafes so there is always somewhere interesting to meet with family and friends.
Must-see Shakespeare-related attractions include Hall’s Croft, home to William’s daughter. Shakespeare’s New Place (the last chapter in his life). Anne Hathaway’s cottage, a romantic setting, and Mary Arden’s Farm, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s mother.
No visit to Stratford would be complete without a night at the world-famous Courtyard Theatre, the Swan, or the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
Plays and productions are performed by the company including the usual suspects such as Hamlet and The Taming of The Shrew but it’s good to know that the company is supporting local talent and also performs works from today’s writers in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Stratford upon Avon Property
As a result of Stratford’s historic appeal and excellent amenities, property in Stratford is relatively expensive to buy at an average price of £409,045.
