Why Move to Spalding?
A quintessential English market town, Spalding sits along the beautiful River Welland in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire and has a population of around 29,000. Well-known for being “The Heart of the Fens”, Spalding is famous as a centre of the bulb-growing industry and has close links with the Netherlands.
The town is in a safe area with good public transport and a range of jobs in the agricultural and engineering sectors. Spalding also has a reputation for friendliness, which is ideal for those looking to become part of a community.
If getting close to nature is something you enjoy doing, the surrounding Vales, the Wolds, the Coast, the Fens, and the Lincolnshire countryside each offer their unique environmental appeals. The river Welland runs right through Spalding and is lined with trees and beautiful Georgian houses, making it a very picturesque place to walk along and sit by.
Getting around the region is uncomplicated. Local train services offer a quick route to Peterborough and Boston as well as to London’s Kings Cross station within an hour. Perfect for work, shopping, or leisure purposes.
Closer to home, Spalding has its own long-standing market on Tuesdays and Saturdays as well as a monthly farmers market. The incredibly attractive Georgian pedestrianized town centre square is lined with historic buildings, many now converted for more modern purposes such as pubs, restaurants and banks.
A flourishing and expanding town, Spalding has so much going for it. It is big enough to have lots of facilities and things to do, but small enough to be welcoming and friendly.
