A market town situated in the Craven district of North Yorkshire. Known as being the ‘Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, Skipton certainly is picturesque. Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, Colne and Kendal are all easy to get to via the M1, M62, M65 and M6.
Skipton railway station also provides regular local train services to Leeds, Bradford and Carlisle, as well as a direct service straight through to London (3hrs 20mins).

Things to do in Skipton
Being nicely located on the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal means that Skipton offers a range of water-based attractions to both locals and its many annual visitors.

Also, very popular is the range of pleasant long or short walks running along the canal banks, some of which take in the historic Skipton Castle, one of the best preserved in the UK.
Today, main events in Skipton include the annual heritage event Skipton Sheep Day which takes place on the first Sunday in July on Skipton High Street. Showcasing what Skipton, and the Yorkshire Dales has to offer, with demonstrations, stalls, entertainment, and local produce sales.
Another well attended event is the annual Christmas Market, voted at being among the top 10 in the UK, a busy affair with all manner of food on offer and a range of unusual Christmas gifts.
