Why Move to Sale
Sale is the largest town in Trafford, Greater Manchester. Located in the North West of the UK it sits on the south bank of the famous River Mersey.
The arrival of the Bridgwater Canal attracted new people to the town. However, Sales’s greatest expansion was experienced with the arrival of the railway in 1849. This triggered Sale’s growth as a commuter town for Manchester, leading to an influx of middle-class residents.
By the end of the 19th century the town’s population had more than tripled.
Today this Trafford suburb has recently been rated the “fourth best place to live in the country”, beating the likes of Altrincham and Didsbury. But why? One of the main reasons is the towns education provision with more than an average selection of Ofsted rated “outstanding” schools available.
Additionally, a host of major motorways connect the town to plenty of larger areas in the region. Its Metrolink system connects Sale with other locations in Greater Manchester and the local train station runs to Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, and Chester.
European and international travel is also an option via nearby Manchester airport.
Residents enjoy the towns close knit community feel evident in all sorts of ways such as its many local clubs and associations. However, Sale really excels when it comes to open spaces. Boasting an enormous amount of green space and woodland, at sites such as Sale Water Park, Walton Park and Worthington Park.
Great schools, nature pursuits, inexpensive housing, and great accessibility, what’s not to like about Sale?
Schools & Education
Parents naturally want to make sure they give their children a good start in life. Attending a school which performs well in its annual assessments and its Ofsted inspections adds greatly to a school’s attraction and reputation.
Sale is fortunate to have a higher than average Ofsted rating for many of its schools. From top class primaries and secondaries as well as having an excellent Grammar School.
Outstanding primaries include, Springfield Primary School, St Mary’s CofE Primary School, Wellfield Infant & Nursery School, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Sale Primary School.
Ashton-on-Mersey School, Stretford Grammar School, Manor Academy and Sale High School are all exceptionally good secondaries and consistently perform well with their GCSE results.
Sale Grammar School places are particularly highly prized. The school became an Academy Trust Grammar School in 2011. Admission to the school is through its own entrance examination.
At Trafford College students have the opportunity to study a wide range of further education courses.
Located in Greater Manchester it provides education for school leavers and adults, with vocational and technical courses, A Levels, apprenticeships, and degree level qualifications.
