The name comes from a bridge over the River Roding which was demolished in 1921. The bridge was made of red brick, unlike other bridges in the area, which were made of white stone.

Things to do in Redbridge
Redbridge has a number of sports and leisure facilities more than enough to cover every sporting interest.
Wansted Leisure Centre, Willesden Sport Centre and Mayfield Leisure Centre & Pool pretty much cover every base from football and rugby pitches to basketball and tennis courts. Plus, Mayfield has a new 25 metre, six-lane swimming pool.
Thrill seekers can enjoy time at Redbridge Cycling Centre. A great facility for cyclists of all abilities, from families to competitive riders. The Centre has purpose-built road, BMX & off-road tracks.
For something a little less energetic, The Roding Valley Way is a designated walking and cycling route following the River Roding from Roding Valley station to Ilford in Greater London. It is a nice trail on mainly traffic free paths, so it is suitable for anyone looking for an easy cycle ride or pleasant stroll.
Local retail opportunities abound, with dozens of stores including Debenhams, TK Maxx, New Look and H&M, The Exchange Ilford is the leading shopping mall in the area. The three-level shopping centre next to Ilford Train Station also has seven food and drink outlets, plus the Pirate Cove mini-train, perfect for tots that need entertaining.
Redbridge Drama Centre host classes, a youth theatre and regular music and dance performances, whilst the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford offers a wide range of both professional and amateur productions.
Redbridge Property

Considered to be sought after roads include Chelmsford Gardens, Rochester Gardens and Stonehall Avenue. However, prices rise substantially in these hot spots and properties sell from around £750,000.
