Just Fifty miles south-west of London, (one-hour commute by train) the ancient town of Petersfield is overlooked by the beautiful countryside of the South Downs National Park.

This pretty market town was founded in the 12th century by the Duke of Gloucester and at that time it was an important centre for cattle trading.

Things to do in Petersfield
There are plenty of local attractions on offer in Petersfield to fill your leisure time.
For getting outdoors and enjoying the fresh air head to Petersfield Heath. Lying to the south of the town, a short walk from Petersfield town centre, the heath has a cricket pitch and golf course on offer and there are plenty of exercise options.
You can hire a boat to venture out on to the lake, feed the ducks or just enjoy a leisurely amble around the lake’s perimeter.
Taro Leisure Centre offers a wide range of activities for everyone to enjoy including a full equipped gym, three swimming pools including flumes, spa facilities sauna & steam room. All ages are welcome from baby swim club up to exercise classes for pensioners.
Petersfield Museum is housed in the towns old Police Station/Courthouse. It offers the opportunity to learn all about the town’s history and people who once lived there. It features a regular calendar of events and recently held an open day all about rationing during WW2, including tasting food made from the limited ingredients citizens had at that time.
Festival Hall is a great destination and Petersfield has a strong reputation for music festivals, so you should be able to enjoy live shows and the wonder of live music in the local community.
Spoilt for choice, Petersfield is surrounded by the stunning South Downs, the Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Butser Hill to the south, the Hampshire Downs to the west, and the tree-lined hills of Hill Brow and Durford to the northeast.
