Why Move to Morpeth
Blessed with natural scenic beauty and a plethora of historical sites, the county of Northumberland has many lovely towns but few rival that of Morpeth. The Times agrees with this statement and has recently named Morpeth as one of the best places in the UK to live.
An interesting feature of Morpeth is its eight bridges which span the river Wansbeck in the centre of the town. Another is the towns winding cobbled streets. Morpeth is a market town which is both picturesque and convenient but with a modern twist, along with property prices that won’t break the bank.
Traditional farmer’s markets sit side by side with trendy restaurants and bars, providing residents with a great balance of old and new. The newly renovated Sanderson Arcade is the jewel in Morpeth’s shopping crown. It has been improved very sympathetically with the rest of the town and fits in well with the ‘old market’ style setting.
The A1, the longest-numbered road in the UK, bypasses the town on its west side offering routes all over the east of the region, ideal for work or play. Newcastle is just 16 miles south, and Alnwick is 18 miles south, both perfect for a quick commute. Whilst a few short miles east and you reach the Northumberland coast. Known for its sweeping golden beaches, rolling dunes, high rock cliffs and isolated islands.
Morpeth’s railway station is on the East Coast Main Line which runs between London and Edinburgh. The station also provides services to other towns both large and small in the region.
Morpeth is an exciting choice for prospective buyers and visitors in search of somewhere quiet and traditional but also well connected and easy to reach.
Schools & Education
As ensuring your child gets the best possible education, moving to a location which supplies high-quality schooling makes the world of difference.
Four primary schools sit within a mile of the town centre.
To find out how well these perform, visit the SchoolSearch website for information about their Ofsted ratings.
Morpeth has 4 state secondary schools that serve 2,670 students for the school year 2022.
Performance data shows that students in the town have been achieving higher than average GCSE results in Maths and English.
King Edward Vi School is a mainstream, co-ed state-funded senior school. In its last inspection, it managed to achieve Ofsted’s highest rating of “outstanding”.
