An unusual mix of different eras mashed together in a really fluid way make Littlehampton appealing to all kinds of people.
The town provides a host of excellent amenities – A well-developed town centre, a swimming pool, Mewsbrook and Harbour Parks, and both the East and West beaches.
Local inhabitants make the most of Littlehampton’s riverside walks and al fresco eateries, perfect for a coffee and cake break with wonderful waterside views.
Local transport connections give easy routes to Chichester 12 miles, Brighton 21 miles, historical Arundel 4 miles and Gatwick Airport 40 miles. Train travel to the city of Portsmouth takes 40 minutes whilst getting to the city of Southampton takes 44 minutes by car, all commutable distances.
Jobs in Littlehampton centre mainly on the retail, manufacturing, and health and social work sectors. A strong industrial sector also helps to create a range of manufacturing jobs for production operatives, machine operators and engineers. Whilst the impressive global offices for The Body Shop are located in the town.
Becoming something of a social hot spot, Littlehampton has some great upmarket restaurants and lively bars and clubs to visit. The Boat House restaurant and Cafeteria is one of the best places to dine in Littlehampton where locally caught fresh fish is a regular feature on the menu.
If it is a seaside location you are after with plenty to do on a day or night out, the West Sussex town of Littlehampton is the ideal place to put down roots.
Schools & Education
It is worth doing your research if you are moving into the area with a family or considering starting one.
There are five different primary schools to choose from which were developed in 2011 to replace the existing primary school provision in the town.
Most of these schools are regarded by the governments education watchdog Ofsted as being “good” with one “requiring improvement” St Catherine’s Catholic Primary School.
There is only one secondary school in the town, the Littlehampton Academy. An 11–18yr mixed, Christian, secondary school and sixth form. Although the school “requires improvement” says Ofsted, its sixth for provision is good and has over the last four years achieved on average 40% A* – B at A Level, as well as being graded consistently ‘Excellent’ for the progress its students make.
