The main London to Penzance railway and the A38 road make Liskeard particularly accessible. Many locals find it a convenient place to live for commuting to the city of Plymouth for work.
Towards the southern side of the town are some beautiful coastal resorts. Head north and you can be amid the rugged landscape of Bodmin Moor in no time.

Things to do in Liskeard
Liskeard doesn’t disappoint on the entertainment front and caters to everyone.
A popular hometown for surfers and sailing enthusiasts, it is easily accessible to many of the popular beaches and resorts along the south Cornish coast. Tregantle and Polkerris both have beautiful beaches.
Siblyback Lake offers recreational activities including children’s play areas, picnic areas, walking, cycling, camping sailing, and kayaking. It sits a short distance from the picturesque Golitha Falls, popular with dog walkers and photographers.
Liskeard Heritage Trail is a great way to explore the town. The walking trail will take you past the Pipe Well, St Martin’s Church, and the Bull Stone, along with delightful pedestrianised Fore Street where you can browse the local shops which still retain their Victorian shop fronts.
For the children, Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary is another must-see attraction. Home to exotic animals including beautiful birds like a range of parrots and owls, giant leopard tortoises, monkeys, graceful zebra and eland, crazy ostrich, and an ever-growing gang of meerkats.
Bodmin Moor is ideal for the whole family. The moor is 80 square miles in size and dates from the Carboniferous period of geological history. It is also the source of several of Cornwall’s rivers including the River Fowey and Tiddy. You can walk, picnic, bird watch, explore ancient woodlands or swim in the moor’s lakes. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is one of the UK’s finest.
