Experiencing somewhat of a renaissance in recent years, the Leicestershire market town of Hinckley has experienced all sorts of well received changes. What was once a tired rather run-down place has been given a new lease of life; a brand-new Sainsbury store, a modern leisure centre a cinema and lots of new eateries have transformed the town to great benefit.
Many of the area’s villages have historical connections and interesting stories to tell.
One of the most famous being the Battle of Bosworth. It was fought close to the town at Sutton Cheney, where King Richard III lost his life in 1485. Notably, one of the most popular poets of the 17th Century John Cleveland was born in Hinckley.
Not being far from the large cites of Coventry and Leicester, Hinckley is convenient for work or play. A transport hub, the main M69, M1, A5 and A47, provide Hinckley with excellent road links not just to Coventry but also to Leicester and Nuneaton and other routes off the M1. Schools & Education
Hinckley’s primary schools are of a good standard with seven to choose from.
Hinckley Parks and St. Peter’s Catholic are both “good” reports Ofsted whilst the Barwell Church of England Academy was ranked as “outstanding”.
“Good” rated high schools include Hastings High School and Heath Lane Academy but the Redmoor Academy “requires improvement” says Ofsted.
North Warwickshire & Hinckley College, a Further Education college, is also in the town. The only other major college in the area is William Bradford located in Earl Shilton.
Within Hinckley there is also Dorothy Goodman Special School which caters for both juniors and seniors with disabilities, it also has units integrated within other local schools.
There is a campus of North Warwickshire & Hinckley FE in the town. However, it’s main campuses are in Nuneaton, Hinckley, Harrowbrook and Wigston.
Things to do in Hinckley
Among some of the important aspects of relocating is finding out what there is to do in your spare time in the local area.
The county of Leicestershire as a whole has much to offer leisure wise but Hinckley itself also contributes is share of entertainment.
The newly opened Hinckley Leisure centre comes with a community pool, a separate splash pad wet play area, large fitness suite and sauna with rooms available to hire too.
Hinckley has a good range of independent shops and popular high street names plus smaller specialist shops and boutiques.
Hinckley’s historic market takes place three times a week in the marketplace with a farmer’s market on the third Thursday of every month.
Wild Kidz offers a good range of soft play activities and party opportunities for kids up to the age of 12, with a separate toddler area. Plenty of slides, climbing apparatus and hideaways. A perfect place to take children on a rainy day.
Go-Ape in Coventry is another extremely popular attraction. Located amid the stunning grounds of Coombe Abbey, you will find something for adrenaline-junkies of all ages. Speedy zip wires and tricky crossings, to a stomach-churning, 12-metre, vertical drop and much more.

Hinckley Property
The town’s housing stock is wide ranging but one of Hinckley’s biggest selling points are its property values.
One-bedroom homes start at an unbelievable £45,000 whilst larger three bedrooms start at £130,000.
Because of the regions great travel links, many residents choose to relocate to smaller villages surrounding Hinckley such as Burbage, Barwell and Earl Shilton and drive the short distance to Hinckley train station.
Hollycroft is another favourite spot, located close to the park and good local schools, in this neighbourhood you can buy a three-bedroom terrace for around £180,000.
The centre of town is where you will find a selection of Victorian and Edwardian properties and you are looking at paying between £180,000 – £350,00 for one of these.
