Why Move to Hertfordshire?
Hertfordshire (or Herts) has pretty much topped most rankings over the years when it comes to “best, happiest or most convenient places to live”. This affluent county is bordered by Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire to the north, Essex to the east, Greater London to the south, and Buckinghamshire to the west. Sitting on London’s northern perimeter means that for regular commuters into the capital, Hertfordshire has some prime locations which make light work of the journey.
Two major airports are nearby, Luton and Stansted providing hundreds of UK, European and International flights to hundreds of locations. Cambridge, St Albans, Edgeware, Welwyn Garden City, and Stevenage for example, are all within less than 45 minutes from London and all much sought-after locations. Not only do these wonderful places make travel easy, but they each also have unique qualities to offer when it comes to recreational activities.
Plus, the county has access to plenty of rural delights, also perfect for relaxing and getting back to nature. Hertfordshire borders the Chiltern AONB which leads directly onto the North Wessex Downs AONB, so there is absolutely no shortage of large open spaces.
Education is well catered for; Hertfordshire is home to 26 independent schools and 73 state secondary schools. The University of Hertfordshire is a modern university based largely in Hatfield. It has more than 23,000 students.
It has been said many times before about plenty of towns and cities but, Hertfordshire is one of those places which is incredibly hard to beat. A practical, aesthetically pleasing location, Hertfordshire is full of great attractions and high-performing schools. This fabulous fusion provides a unique quality of life for those who reside here.

Parents are faced with literally hundreds of schools for the 5-11 age group. Many of these schools perform incredibly well with 76 achieving Ofsted’s most coveted award of “outstanding”.
Primary school admissions are handled via the Hertfordshire Government website.
For the 11–18-year age group, secondary schools are entirely comprehensive, although 7 schools in the south and southwest of the county are partially selective.
All state schools have sixth forms, and there are no sixth form colleges. Again, to apply for a school place at one of the county’s secondary or upper schools simply visit.
There is a good selection of tertiary colleges, each has multiple campuses, Hertford Regional College, North Hertfordshire College, Oaklands College, and West Herts College have great reputations.
A higher than the national average (42.2%) of pupils in Hertfordshire go on to enrol in higher education.
Local higher education is provided for by The University of Hertfordshire is a modern university based largely in Hatfield.
