The wide pedestrianised shopping area offers an interesting mix of cafés and restaurants, with a selection of independent shops alongside well-known chain stores. The towns Saturday market is very well attended, selling all sorts of products including food and clothing.
A number of open spaces and parks are scattered throughout the town posing attractive places to wander or exercise. Herne Bay’s seafront is home to the world’s first freestanding purpose-built Clock Tower, built in 1837.
