Why Move to Fulham?
The attractive neighbourhood of Fulham is located within the London Borough of Hammersmith. It sits very nicely between Chelsea and Putney and well within reach of inner London.
Not only does it have highly convenient access to the business districts of the city, but also stunning river walks, spacious parks and amazingly, London’s only urban beach (at Bishop’s Park).
Property is a big draw too. Large Edwardian and Victorian homes line many of the local streets making excellent family homes as well as giving those tired of living in cramped inner London apartments much more space.
The Fulham area has been inhabited by man for over 5000 years. Archaeologists have unearthed all sorts of interesting objects dating from Neolithic and later Roman times.
Once a hot bed of dubious character, home to thieves and vagabonds, these days, Fulham has become an urban sanctuary which is definitely on the hot list of sought-after locations in London.
Residents can enjoy time browsing the many individuals and quirky boutique shops, antique stores and vintage clothing stores which sit alongside a host of trendy pubs and cafés. Plus, there are a number of high-end eateries such as the Amuse Bouche Champagne Bar.
Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose all have stores in the town, complimented by nearby Parsons Green Farmers’ Market, and the Sunday Bishops Park Farmers’ and Fine Foods Market.
Fulham is famously the home of Chelsea Football Club, which competes in the Premier League, the highest division of English football. The home ground, Stamford Bridge gets particularly busy on home match days.
Getting around the area could not be easier as Fulham is blessed with three tube stations, direct access to the overground rail network, busses galore and it is only a 20-minute cycle journey into Victoria so really no need to own a car.
Living in Fulham means you can enjoy a relatively quiet residential life along gentrified streets, mixed with more up and coming areas whilst remaining close to an exciting night life and social scene ideally suited to both families and young professionals.
Fulham Schools & Education
With a good assortment of both private and state schools in Fulham, educational needs are very well provided for.
Standards are high with all schools having gained at least a “good” rating by Ofsted with many having achieved the best rating Ofsted can award of “outstanding”.
Within less than a mile there are half a dozen top rated schools including Langford Primary School, Courtyard AP Academy Junior School and for older students Chelsea Academy secondary school and sixth form.
Private schools include the prestigious Parsons Green Prep School and Fulham School.
Fulham has a large French population, as such there is a French language primary school, ‘Marie d’Orliac’. It is a feeder school for the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle in South Kensington.
Things to do in Fulham
For those who call Fulham home they are very lucky to have just about every type of attraction known to man at their fingertips.
Sadly, much of Fulham’s past was destroyed in the notorious London Bombings during WW2. But one of the most notable historic sites is Fulham Palace, the ministerial retreat of the Bishops of London. Its medieval and Tudor features, kitchen garden and part-excavated longest moat in England is a popular tourist attraction.
The renowned Fulham Football Club was founded in this area in 1879. This makes it the oldest professional football team in London. It is possible to visit the ground and step inside the famous dressing room. Plus, through displays and informative talks you can learn more about the club’s memorable moments through the years.
Numerous pubs and restaurants line the Thames and those interested in fine dining will be in foodie heaven. Notable places to eat include the River Café and The Crabtree. Both fabulous spots for relaxing, eating and watching the happenings on the river.
Green leafy spaces are aplenty too. Hurlington Park, Bishops Park, South Park and Eel Brook Common are all wonderful places to enjoy nature and sport as some have tennis courts, football pitches as well as children’s play areas.
Bishops Park is one of the borough’s most popular and well-used parks. First opened in 1893, it is listed Grade II on the register of parks and gardens of special historic interest maintained by English Heritage and has a unique urban beach.
Around 12 million people a year visit Fulham Broadway Shopping Centre for its shops, cinema, health club and choice of restaurants. With our diverse capital city so close by, the sky truly is the limit.

Of course, the older period homes grab the attention of prospective buyers the majority having received the renovation treatment and now offer spacious family sized accommodation.
These beautiful homes are not cheap either, it is not unusual for people to pay well over the £4,000,000 mark.
