Bordering Greater London, the home county of Buckinghamshire or Bucks for short, is well worth further consideration. Buckinghamshire is widely considered the third “poshest” county to live behind Surrey and London respectively.

The largest settlement in Buckinghamshire is Milton Keynes a town located in the northeast offering a buzzing urban lifestyle, just 35 minutes from London. Slough is another of the region’s suburban locations popular with a younger demographic. The train station at Slough can whizz you into London Paddington in around 13 minutes.
You may perhaps be retiring or working remotely from home, in this case, there are some very pretty rural locations that might suit you. If your budget can stretch to it, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, and Chalfont St Peter are close to areas of outstanding natural beauty and pose a more sedate way of life, amid strong communities.
Cheaper locations to think about which are countrified but not too expensive include Aylesbury and Haddenham. Working in Buckinghamshire
Understanding the local labour market is a very useful tool if you are considering relocating to a new area. Buckinghamshire has a highly productive and entrepreneurial economy with a dynamic and resilient employment base underpinned by a strong and high-quality business community.
The county enjoys an incredibly productive economy with the highest GDP per capita outside Inner London. A large number of leading companies within the entertainment sector operate from the region such as Pinewood Studios and the National Film and Television School.
Buckinghamshire also has world-leading assets and sectoral strengths in the space propulsion and high-performance engineering industry. Buckinghamshire has a unique relationship with Formula 1 motorsport which is largely based out of Silverstone Park, a part of the Silverstone Technology Cluster.
The county is home to a local and highly regarded specialism; Sports Engineering which in recent years has become a key part of sector growth. Small businesses are also very prevalent and employ as many as 1 in 6 of Buckinghamshire’s population. The largest employment sector, however, is in wholesale and retail.

Buckinghamshire Schools & Education

In some areas, children can take the 11 Plus Exam and move on to Grammar school if they pass. There are 13 grammar schools to choose from. In some cases, Grammar Schools will have geographic restrictions on who can apply and in others, they are open entry.

Amersham College, Wycombe College, and Aylesbury College provide further education, and all offer a vast range of courses for the 16-18 age group, complemented by a good selection of adult courses. Buckinghamshire is also home to the University of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire New University, the National Film and Television School, the Open University, and the University Campus Milton Keynes.
Things to do in Buckinghamshire
