Why Move to Aldershot
A former Victorian village, Aldershot sits in the pretty county of Hampshire in the borough of Rushmoor. Only established in the middle of the 19th-century the town, which is surrounded by unspoiled heathland countryside, is renowned as being the “Home of the British Army”. In more recent times Aldershot is being seen as an up-and-coming area with many new housing developments being built in place of the old barracks, evolving into a bustling town full of variety.
Aldershot appeals equally to families and commuters, thanks to its great schools and superb transport links. A throwback from its Victorian beginnings means Aldershot also attracts buyers looking for a home with classic period features.
Many residents commute the 50-minute journey into Central London’s Waterloo station to work. This easy travel time enables them to take full advantage of Aldershot’s average property cost of £347,048, an incredible saving of £348,364 when compared to London real estate prices.
Guildford, Reading, Yateley, Woking, and Farnham are easily accessible via the M31, A3, and A 34 A324 whilst Heathrow Airport is the closest airport and is just 20 miles away.
As well as a bustling town centre, the town is also something of a dog walker and jogger’s haven.
Large, green open spaces like Aldershot Park and Manor Park, and the canal paths between Aldershot and Farnborough pose plenty of opportunities for enjoying outside pursuits. Another of Aldershot’s many attributes is its location to the stunning South Downs, an Area of Outstanding Beauty, visited by thousands each year. If you are searching for a home in this part of beautiful Hampshire, it will be difficult to find a town with as many positive attributes as Aldershot possesses.
Schools & Education
As private education costs are for the most part beyond the reach of many people, it has never been more vital to research what schools are available in the area before you choose the house of your dreams.
Aldershot certain provides access to some extremely high-performing schools for all ages.
Among the best schools for younger children are St Michael’s Church of England Controlled Infant School, Wellington Community Primary, and Talavera Junior School, which are both rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
“Outstanding” secondaries include All Hallows Catholic School and The Ridgeway School however there are plenty of “good” rated schools to choose from too.
For further education, The University for the Creative Arts is in neighbouring Farnham and is a specialist institute for the arts, music, theatre, and film.
Aldershot College provides vital trade skills to prepare students for employment within the industry, with courses and apprenticeships in bricklaying, carpentry, electrical installation, and plumbing
