Why move to Farnborough
Situated in the heart of Hampshire, halfway between London and Southampton, Farnborough is a highly affluent and prosperous area perhaps best known for its aviation links, including the biennial hosting of the Farnborough International air show.
The town itself rests in a valley and is surrounded by some smaller towns such as Ash, Mytchett and the larger town of Aldershot.
The river Blackwater flows close to the town on the Hampshire/Surrey border and is an idyllic place to have a stroll along its banks of farmland and wooded areas. There are lots of places to stop and enjoy a picnic or rest while enjoying the views.
Farnborough has recently benefitted from an £100,000 overhaul from the council to update the town centre.
The scheme was designed to encourage retailers and landlords to enhance their shop fronts, windows and signage to attract more business and compete with out of town outlets while maintaining and promoting the history and Victorian character of the town.
Further development has also been earmarked in the form of four new housing development sites, which includes exciting proposals for the building of 700 new homes. Other proposals include economic commercial spaces to include a hotel, restaurants, shops, and leisure and community spaces.
The town enjoys excellent transport connections with the M3 just to the north and the A31 and A331 dual-carriageways south and east respectively.
By train you are within a 40-minute commute to London Waterloo, one hour to Southampton, 26 minutes to Reading and 20 mins to Guildford.
It is also only 30 minutes away from London Heathrow and 50 minutes from Gatwick, making it a fantastic commuter hub.
